This month, we’re celebrating something very close to our hearts — Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and the amazing MHFAiders® across the country.

At The Mind Hub, both I and several members of our associate team are proud Instructor Members for MHFA England. Together, we’ve seen first-hand the impact that MHFA training has in creating safer, kinder, and more supportive workplaces. Since MHFA England first launched, over 800,000 people in the UK have become MHFAiders, with 90% actively using their skills to support others at work. That’s an incredible community making a real difference every day.

Why MHFAiders Matter

If you’re building a Wellbeing Champion team, having trained MHFAiders is invaluable. They’re equipped to recognise the signs of poor mental health, start supportive conversations, and signpost to the right help.

Here’s why every organisation should consider MHFA as part of their wellbeing strategy:

  • Global best practice: MHFAiders are recommended within ISO 45003, the international standard for psychological health and safety at work.

  • Proven return on investment: Research shows a £4.70 return for every £1 invested in employee mental health and wellbeing.

  • Culture and connection: MHFAiders help normalise conversations about mental health and foster a culture of care.

  • Early intervention: They’re often the first to spot when someone may be struggling — and can make all the difference in getting support early.

Introducing the First MHFAider® Day

This month marks the launch of the very first MHFAider Day, a nationwide celebration from MHFA England recognising the powerful impact of MHFAiders in workplaces and communities.

The day aims to:

✨ Raise visibility of MHFAiders

✨ Celebrate the role they play in creating positive change

✨ Highlight the impact of MHFA training

✨ Strengthen the call to make MHFA part of every workplace

✨ Encourage connection through the Association of Mental Health First Aiders® and Refresher training
